Hot Pot


So many thoughts in my head, so few ideas stirring a blog post. So I thought about hot pot.

During our New Year celebration last weekend, my wife's parents prepared this communal, sumptuous feast common in many parts of China this time of the year. Prepare a couple of broths ("regular" and spicy options), gather the family around its boiling warmth, take turns ladling in the good stuff (meats, seafood, vegetables, noodles), then fill your bowl with the now-cooked good stuff. Repeat until your stomach is bursting and your bowl is filled with a special mix of broths left over from multiple ladles carrying your loads of goodness. With this never-ending winter continuing its coldness, I could use some more hot pot right about now.
