Valentine's Day - it's time for flowers, chocolates, and, yes, poetry.
I'm not one of those people.
You see,
It occurred to me
That love poetry
Only comes easy
When you find
Another kind
Like you, behind
The masks that bind
Us to ourselves.
Take off that mask
And let yourself bask
In the glow of another's
Basking in you.
If you find the same,
You are golden.
If you find different,
Then find someone else
To become beholden to.
When you are free
As can be
Singing in the shower
Or fixing toilet lever
With nothing more clever
Than notion that
Your lover will want
Honey Nut O's
From Trader Joe's.
Then you know
All you need to know
That is love.
And off you go - enjoy a splendid Valentine's Day!
